Challenge

Matson's 50-ton container crane at the Port of Guam had severe coating breakdown after 8 years in C5-M marine exposure. Surface rust covered 60% of the structure, with active corrosion at weld joints and bolted connections.

Approach

We mobilized a 4-person crew with dustless blast equipment to the port. The crane was blasted to SP-5 White Metal over 6 days, with containment to prevent abrasive in the harbor. We applied a three-coat ISO 12944 C5-M system: zinc-rich primer, high-build epoxy intermediate, and aliphatic polyurethane topcoat in Matson blue.

Challenge

United Airlines' ground support equipment at Guam International Airport had faded paint and surface rust across 47 units — baggage tractors, belt loaders, pushback tractors, and deicing trucks. The airline needed restoration without disrupting flight operations.

Approach

We mobilized to the airport and worked in rotation — 3-5 units per week. Each unit was dustless blasted to remove old paint and rust, primed with zinc-rich epoxy, and topcoated with polyurethane in United brand colors. Work was scheduled during overnight hours to avoid operational impact.

Hawaiian Rock Water Tank Rehabilitation

Challenge

Hawaiian Rock Products' 50,000-gallon water tank had 15 years of coating degradation. Rust was visible on the exterior and interior showed pinpoint rust with coating delamination. The tank needed to pass AWWA D102 inspection for potable water storage.

Approach

We drained and ventilated the tank, then dustless blasted the interior to SP-5 White Metal. Applied an AWWA-approved epoxy system rated for potable water immersion: two coats of NSF-certified epoxy. Exterior was blasted and coated with a UV-stable polyurethane system. Holiday testing performed on all immersion surfaces.

Approach

We blasted the structural steel to SP-10 Near-White and applied a C4-rated three-coat system: zinc-rich primer, epoxy intermediate, and polyurethane topcoat. All work performed in our controlled environment with DFT monitoring at each layer.
